We bought a remodeling project in April 2009. Move-in was in June, remodel started in August. It's not quite a year since we moved in, and there has been great progress. And great adventure.

Nuevo En Mi Casa

  • A huge stack of notes for a recipe app.

  • New camera and a couple lenses: Canon Rebel XS. Super fun.

  • The realization that the porch needs painting this summer.

RL, I tried using Good Reads for a while, but it didn't stick. Mean to go back to it for this ongoing Read the World thing; paper is proving too annoying.
I am convinced you read more than a dozen books last year, unless you told me about every book you read.

Read a cool article a couple years ago about a Texas bison rancher. When he started out, he would haul the fellow destined for slaughter off to the slaughterhouse and it never went well. First, they're huge and tricky to cope with when furious, and second, the rest of the tribe goes absolutely batshit for days.
Rancher Man figured out that he could just decide which one to kill, walk up to him, blast the beast with a shotgun and the tribe stayed calm. And the meat tasted better--no adrenaline.
Found some folks up in Whatcom County who are raising them. Story will follow this year, the photos kick ass.

I can't find my obsessive records from 1/09-3/10! Oh no. It may just be saving me some embarrassment, as the number of books I'm reading lately has plummeted dramatically - I may have finished a dozen last year, which is a bit stomach-turning. Maybe I failed to record some? Eep.

saw rinella read at one of those shared table events that [someone] puts on; he shared the very last of his buffalo haul, having field prepped it like In Ye Ole Days to last a year and we passed around this plate of dry, crumbly, ancient buffalo shake and ate of it and holy shit it tasted bad but a man's got to live don't he.
